Missionary Sending and Renewal of Commitment of
José Ángel Medina Sánchez

Service d'Animation Missionnaire

On July 19, the Medalla Milagrosa Parish in Tegucigalpa was the setting for a moving celebration: the missionary sending and renewal of missionary commitment of José Ángel Medina Sánchez, a lay associate of the Quebec Foreign Mission Society (SME).

After having served in mission in Peru, José Ángel now begins a new chapter in his missionary vocation. His next destination is Kenya, where he will join an intercultural community to continue sharing life, faith, and hope in the spirit of Jesus.

The Eucharist was presided over by the parish priest Fr. Jesús Palau, cm, a Vincentian priest, and concelebrated by Fr. André Dionne, pmé, and Fr. Juvanne Regidor, pmé, members of the SME. Family members, friends, SME lay missionaries, pastoral agents, and representatives of the community gathered for this celebration marked by joy, gratitude, and missionary sending.

During the ceremony, José Ángel renewed his commitment to the Ad Gentes mission, affirming his desire to continue walking in the service of the Kingdom, with a willing spirit, among the peoples. The community prayed over him and laid hands on him in a gesture of fraternal support and ecclesial sending.

José Ángel’s testimony is a living expression of a Church that goes forth—crossing borders, embracing other cultures, and walking alongside those most in need.

From the SME and from his local community in Honduras, we accompany him with joy and hope. May the Holy Spirit sustain him in this new mission, and may his presence in Kenya be a seed of fraternity, justice, and love.

Blessings on your journey, José Ángel! Thank you for your missionary dedication and for being a sign of hope among the peoples.
