Missionary sending and renewal of commitment of Lilian Azucena Sánchez in Namasigüe, Honduras

Service d'Animation Missionnaire

On June 29, the community of St. John Paul II Parish in Namasigüe, Choluteca (Honduras) witnessed a deeply meaningful moment: the missionary sending and renewal of missionary commitment of Lilian Azucena Sánchez, a lay associate of the Quebec Foreign Mission Society (SME).

With a journey marked by dedication, service, and faith, Lilian has shared life with communities in Chile and Peru, where she experienced the richness of intercultural encounter and the vitality of the Gospel embodied in diverse realities. Today, with a generous heart and an open spirit, she is being sent to a new mission: Brazil.

During the celebration, which brought together parishioners, family, friends, and representatives of the missionary team, there was a profound moment of prayer and gratitude. Lilian renewed her commitment to the ad gentes mission, testifying to her faithfulness to God’s call among the peoples. In a gesture of sending, the community prayed over her, laying hands and expressing their spiritual support and closeness.

Lilian’s testimony is a concrete expression of the missionary dynamism of a Church that goes forth—one that crosses borders, takes root in new realities, and walks alongside the poor and the marginalized.

From the SME and from her local community in Honduras, we accompany her with joy and hope in this new chapter. May the Holy Spirit strengthen her, and may she continue to sow seeds of justice, peace, and fraternity in Brazil.

Blessings on your journey, Lilian! Thank you for your generous "yes," and for being a missionary of hope among the peoples.
