Renewal with the Society

­    We announce the renewal of Beatriz Melina's association for a term of three years during a joyous celebration with other local group members and friends in Cambodia on Friday, February  9th 2024. 

We extend our warmest congratulations to Beatriz and wish her every success and fulfilment in her continued mission work.

­    We announce the renewal of Julie Fecteau's association for a term of five years during a joyous celebration in the parish of Sendai, Japan on Sunday, December 17th 2023.

­       Last February 16 at the central House, Argentina Saavedra Macawili lay missionary in Peru renewed her commitment for a term of two years.

 João Marinho Da Silva, from Brazil, associate in Japan since 2017, has also ended his association commitment with the SME.

Fabiola Gomez, associate coming from Chile, ended her association commitment with the SME. Fabiola worked in Thailand (2007-13) and in Japan (2013-23). 

Engagement with the Society

­       Luningning E. Alvarado, originally from the Philippines and a lay missionary in Brazil since 2011, is appointed to the Honduras Local Group. 

Engagement with the Society

­       After consultation with the Honduras Local Group, the Superior General has appointed Grisel Cabrera Martinez as the Local Group leader for a two-year term. Thanks to Jean Greffard for his service as leader of the Honduras Local Group.

Fany Soveida Moradel Zapata, originally from Honduras and a lay missionary in the Philippines (2015-17) and in Kenya since 2018, has ended her association with the Society.

Chris Jun Tabiling, originally from the Philippines, has ended his formation project at TFCK (Nairobi) and has been relieved by the Superior General of his commitment as a temporary member of the Society.

­       Mary Ann Ofialda, from the Philippines and lay missionary in Cambodia, renewed her association for a new term of five years during a celebration in Phnom Penh in the presence of Pedro Emilio Ramírez representing the Superior general.

The request for association by Jonel Paquibot, from the Philippines, was accepted by the Superior general for a term of 6 years. As lay missionary associate, Jonel will join the local Group of Kenya.

The Superior general, with the approval of his council, has accepted the request presented by Evans Okotchi Masakhalia to become a perpetual member of the Society and to receive the ministry of diaconate. 

His ordination to the diaconate. It will take place on Saturday August 27 at 10h00 at the central House and it will be presided by bishop Martin Laliberté.

Diover Enrique Zabala Cuart was elected as the person in charge of the local Group of Cambodia for a term of two years. Coming from Venezuela, Diover is a lay missionary associate in Cambodia since 2014.

Joel Enrique Andino Molina was elected as the person in charge of the local Group of Brazil for a term of two years. Coming from Honduras, Joel is a lay missionary associate in Brazil since 2019.

Marie-Hélène Côté has informed the Superior general that she was quitting her function as director of the magazine Missions Étrangères at the beginning of summer. In a text placed in the chronicle, she shares her reasons behind her decision. In the name of the missionary animation Service and of all the SME, I wish to thank Marie-Hélène for all those years of service at the direction of the magazine. Marie-Hélène, a big thank you for all those services rendered to the SME. May the Lord accompany you with each step that you will take on your new journey.

Sofia Diez ends this month her association commitment with the SME. Sofia worked in Thailand, in Kenya and in the Philippines, particularly in missionary formation. A big thank you, Sofia and Godspeed in your new missionary projects.
